I have played percussion and piano for most of my life. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Alberta, and a Master of Music degree from Rutgers University. My major for both degrees was percussion performance. I have been teaching professionally for over 25 years and performing professionally for over 30 years. I have performed with such groups as the New Jersey Symphony, Monmouth Symphony, Hunterdon Symphony, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, Manalapan Battleground Symphony, and Edmonton Symphony. During my studies at the University of Alberta I performed 4 consecutive years with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.

As much as I enjoy performing, my real passion is teaching private lessons. In addition to the private lessons on percussion and piano that I teach as founder and owner of Scott Martin Music Studio, I’ve also taught sectionals at the Pingry school, Princeton day School, and for the Central Jersey high school regional and all-state orchestras.
